15 Things We Love About Bali
Bali, the famous island in the middle of Indonesia, has enticed us in so many ways, and it’s actually a lot harder then you might think to properly name why. But in an effort to entice you too, I thought I’d give it a try anyways. So here are 15 (of many more) things we love about this island!
1 – It is just sooo green!
2 – Tempeh. They have tempeh everywhere. And we luuuv tempeh, which is a bit harder to find in Australia or Belgium. And the fact that it’s so cheap, makes us love Bali even more.
3 – The Balinese people. Everyone smiles all the time and is really helpful. Or at the very least they try their best to understand us or make us understand them. Their English is not real good but we must admit, it’s a lot better then our Indonesian.
4 – No need for jackets and jumpers. Even in the rainy season the weather is great. From hot and humid to enjoyable temperatures, you don’t have to wear a lot of clothes any time of the year.
5 – Watch the surfers hit the waves at Uluwatu. The bars and shops look out over the ocean like a stage, which is a rightful name for it as those dudes and dudettes out there are true performers.
6 – It can be so damn peaceful.
7 – It’s the kind of holiday destination that everyone can enjoy. There’s a touristy party beach vacation setting in Kuta. A relaxing getaway-from-it-all in Ubud. Active boys and girls can climb mountains or dive shipwrecks, and you can spend days gazing at temples.
8 – Bali is full of temples. Old and new, big and small. The sight of them gives the whole landscape a majestic feel to it.
9 – Cruising our motorbikes through the ricefields and discover hidden gems of green jungle.
10 – The trendy restaurants and shops of Canggu, when you need a change from mie and tempeh.
11 – Ubud. How relaxing this place is, it’s unbelievable. The chill vibe and atmosphere you find here is found nowhere else on the island, in our opinion. And they have some excellent spa’s too.
12 – To catch a sunrise over a beer at one of the many beaches.
13 – Awesome grafitti murals when you don’t expect them. They just pop up and change the sight of an otherwise boring street.
14 – Diving with manta rays at Nusa Lembongan was just one of the best experiences we had in Asia, also diving to the Liberty Wreck in Tulamben is highly recommended!
15 – It’s very close to the Gili Islands, a group of three islands near Lombok, where the main activities are diving, eating and relaxing!
